Conversation’s study

We are currently recruiting 8-14 year-olds with and without autism to participate in a study where they will take part in conversations with peers and researchers, watch some cool videos and answer some questions.

Our Conversations Study includes one in-person session at our lab (lasts around 4 hours) and two online sessions via Zoom (15-30 min each). All of these sessions can be scheduled at your convenience and you do not need to be present when the study is taking place after you have dropped your child.

In this study your child would have conversations with other children their age, discuss brief nature videos they will watch, and fill out some questionnaires. We may also ask your child to answer survey questions on a computer, while in the lab.

We would compensate your child $15 an hour for their in-person participation (for a maximum of $75) and $10 for each completed Zoom call. All compensation is in the form of Amazon gift cards that we will send out after all parts of the study have been completed.

We’re located right by the Boston Common, a short walk from the Red, Green and Orange lines. We also validate parking at a garage nearby.

Interested families can sign up to get more information here (https://redcapweb.emerson.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=8EKL7TPYNJPKYEYF )

Don’t live in Boston – Still want to Participate?

We have many active online surveys that you can participate in if you aren’t living near Boston. Some consist of reading conversations, watching videos and then stating your initial opinion on the conversations. They vary in length, they can take between 10 and 50 minutes.
